Pollywog in a Bog

Noah Ginex and Fuzzy Gerdes created this video for the Bare Naked Ladies. It's pretty cool when you hang with such talented, creative folks, huh?

Speaking of creative folks - I know there is some speculation as to what Metaluna and the Amazing Science of the Mind Revue is about, so here's Michael Johnson to explain it and provide some clarity:

"combination of dada, and vaudeville, and real theatre..."

Ha.

Then what are the previous two exactly?

I'll come see this.

Dear Anon,

That's kind of an inside joke. One of the ideas Metaluna touches on is the label(s) we put on theater (and, you know Everything.)

As Mr. Janes wrote:

Tristan: "Theater is magic."
Baden: "Theater is bullshit."

Never were truer words spoken.

As for Mike's description of the play/show/story...man. That shit is right on the money. I'll be cribing that whenever I talk about it from now on.

signed,
rebar (who is also in the play/show/story.)

On the first video... Does it seem like everyone under 35 is interested in some kind of Sesame Street infected form of entertainment? No wonder there are so few mature fully-realized plays floating around.

On the second video... Seems a little more than insular to me. Sounds like positively self-involved blather. I mean, come on: It's a show about everyman because it focuses on no-one in particular? Watch it for 5 minutes and have your mind blown and then you'll repeat that every 5 minutes for the rest of the show?

What kind of description is that? WTF?

Kevin, it's a video for a song from a children's album. That might be why it seems childish. Because it's for kids.

Thank god. I thought I was going crazy. Maybe there IS hope for us.

Kevin.

I understand your confusion and can also understand your avoiding both Sesame Street-themed children's videos and plays that are difficult to describe.

In my experience on both your points:

A) there are plenty of mature, fully-realized plays around - very few of them get produced because things like Jersey Boys and Legally Blonde: The Musical make bank (neither of which have puppets).

and

B) I understand that is subtle, but I knew that Michael's description provided no genuine clarity - I'm not a retard - I thought it was funny to hear the play described in such a way and have almost everyone in the cast taking a stab at it. Stay tuned and we may find a clear description of this strange, five-ring circus called Metaluna

my favorite part of the show is that there IS no clear description of it.

Fair enough. And sorry for the interruption. Carry on.
